Anxiety
attacks (also called panic attacks), are terrifying.
If you've ever experienced a full-on anxiety attack you will
know exactly what I'm talking about.
The
symptoms can vary: sometimes it's a racing pulse that feels
like your heart will burst right out of your chest. Other
times is could be hyperventilation and shortness of breath,
or an "unreal" feeling, like you are somehow detached
from reality.
But
whatever your physical symptoms may be, there is always and
undercurrent of emotional instability that goes along with
them; fear and an unexplained feeling of impending doom are
two of the most common emotional responses.
Anxiety
and panic attacks build up over time as a result of our habitual
way of thinking and acting. Our diet, sleeping patterns and
other habits can contribute to the attacks, but it is our
day-to-day habitual way of thinking that
causes the most trouble.
"Stinking
Thinking" as my Grandfather used to call it, is the greatest
precursor to anxiety attacks. In other words, to stop
the attacks, you are going to need to start
doing things a bit differently, and changing your everyday
habits.
"The
same habits that produce the anxiety in the first place are
not likely to cure it."
