Anxiety Attacks

anxietyAnxiety attacks (also called panic attacks), are terrifying. If you've ever experienced a full-on anxiety attack you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

The symptoms can vary: sometimes it's a racing pulse that feels like your heart will burst right out of your chest. Other times is could be hyperventilation and shortness of breath, or an "unreal" feeling, like you are somehow detached from reality.

But whatever your physical symptoms may be, there is always and undercurrent of emotional instability that goes along with them; fear and an unexplained feeling of impending doom are two of the most common emotional responses.

Anxiety and panic attacks build up over time as a result of our habitual way of thinking and acting. Our diet, sleeping patterns and other habits can contribute to the attacks, but it is our day-to-day habitual way of thinking that causes the most trouble.

"Stinking Thinking" as my Grandfather used to call it, is the greatest precursor to anxiety attacks. In other words, to stop the attacks, you are going to need to start doing things a bit differently, and changing your everyday habits.

"The same habits that produce the anxiety in the first place are not likely to cure it."

If you are dealing with anxiety and panic attacks there is only one place to start: acceptance.

This may sound strange, and you may ever be wondering how you can accept something that causes do much turmoil and disruption in your life. But the main thing you need to accept is your ole in creating the attacks.

This is NOT the same thing as blaming yourself for your anxiety attacks--not at all. It is simply accepting responsibility, that you have a role in all this, and are not just an "innocent bystander."

Anxiety attacks are something we are actively involved in--they are not something that simply happens "to us."

One of the primary ways that we help create anxiety attacks is by trying to over-control ourselves and our environment. But with the right resources to help you, you can learn to begin relaxing control a bit, and going with the flow to a much greater extent.

Anxiety and panic attacks can be overcome by learning to work with your environment, instead of reaching for greater and greater control over it. These "control issues" are the primary cause of anxiety in the first place, that's why the EasyCalm Anxiety Coaching Videos spend so much time on this subject. The exercises in the series are designed to eliminate the control issues that are the root cause of anxiety attacks.

If you're dealing with a serious anxiety issue, it may be time that you strike back, and "attack" the anxiety, instead of the other way around. Take the first step and get the resources you need. Your peace of mind depends on it. Start today--start now.
