What
causes panic attacks? The short answer is, panic attacks are
caused by the activation of the "fight or flight"
response in an individual, otherwise known as anxiety.
So the underlying causes of panic attacks are usually nothing
more than anxiety. Anxiety, while uncomfortable, is rarely
physically harmful, however elevated anxiety levels can, over
time, contribute to very serious and even life-threatening
illnesses.
Anxiety
is defined as a state of fear, a reaction to a "threat."
And it doesn't matter of the "threat" is real or
imagined, the anxiety, panic attacks and accompanying symptoms
it causes can be equally severe.
Those who have never experienced a panic attack cannot be
expected to understand the intense fear of the experience,
or the physical symptoms panic attacks can cause: chest pains,
dizziness, double vision, breathing difficulties, tightness
of the chest, excessive yawning, trouble swallowing, tingling
in the extremities, unexplained muscle soreness, and many,
many others.
That's
why it is recommended to seek help from someone with personal
experience with panic attacks and their causes.
One
of the most frightening aspects of panic attacks is the feeling
of "losing control." It is these "control issues"
that ALL panic attack sufferers must learn to deal with in
order to overcome the panic attacks.

Key
to understanding the causes of panic attacks is the understanding
of how control issues cause an individual to obsessively reach

they are unable to achieve a comfortable level of control...Bam!
It
is this inability to adjust to a comfortable level of "control"
which causes panic attacks. It is a psychological

practical concepts that reduce this obsessive over-reaching
for control. There are both physical and mental exercises
that will train you to respond very differently in these situations,
reducing the causes of panic attacks before they get started.
