Panic attacks
and depression can often go hand in hand. It's ironic that
anxious feelings can accompany depressed feelings, but it
does happen, and more often than you might think.
For
many people, the depression is the result of living with anxiety
and panic attacks for a long time. These problems have a way
of tearing down the self -image and self-esteem, and this
can often result in depression.
Living
with the extreme tension and discomfort of regular panic attacks
is enough to make even the toughest of individuals a bit depressed,
so it should come as no surprise that these two problems often
co-exist.

If
you are experiencing panic attacks accompanied by depression,
your first course of action should always be to see your doctor.
Depression can be a very serious condition, and should not
be taken lightly.
In
situations where panic attacks and anxiety may be causing
the depression (not uncommon), making progress on the anxiety
problem will usually also have a positive effect on the depression.
In
fact, some of the underlying causes of depression are the
same as anxiety attacks. Particularly, the obsessive over-reaching
for control that is present in anxiety sufferers, is often
a big part of depression as well.
By
trying to over-control ourselves and our environment, we create
a tense, and non-productive state of mind which can lead to
panic attacks, anxiety or even depression. By working with
a good system for recovery, you can quickly learn to let go
of some of this control, relieving the panic attacks and anxiety
to a great extent.
The
EasyCalm Anxiety Coaching Videos
are really big on this subject. The exercises and practical
concepts in the series were designed to stop the obsessive
over-reaching for control that causes panic attacks and anxiety.
By
learning to "let go" of their panic attacks, many
people find that the panic-caused depression fades as well.
