Exercises for Anxiety
Can
home exercises for anxiety be as effective
as therapy or using anti-anxiety medications? Actually, the
research shows that using techniques and exercises at home
for anxiety can help to control or eliminate anxiety symptoms,
without resorting to the use of prescription drugs or expensive
therapy sessions.
Programs
such as the EasyCalm
anxiety video series can empower you to take back control
over your life -- and your anxiety situation. EasyCalm uses
techniques and exercises for anxiety that are designed to
confront the root cause of the problem, NOT simply treat the
symptoms.
Unfortunately,
many doctors continue to "put a Band-Aid on the problem"
by treating anxiety symptoms with daily medication. This approach
really just scratches the surface of the anxiety problem,
and only attempts to lessen the effect of the symptoms --
not cure the problem. And although some of these medications
can be useful in the short term to help the anxiety sufferers
gets stable, the use of medication as a long-term "cure"
for anxiety is questionable at best, and dangerous and counterproductive
at worse.
As
a former anxiety medication user, I have a great deal of experience
with these pharmaceuticals, and I have learned the hard way
that the side effects and potential withdrawal symptoms of
these medications are often worse than any perceived benefit
they offer.

For
example, for many years my doctor prescribed Paxil in an attempt
to treat my "anxiety condition." I must admit that
I found it slightly calming the first few weeks of use --
until the side effects kicked in! After approximately 1 month
I developed chronic heartburn, memory loss, tiredness and
generally had trouble concentrating.
While
these side effects were pretty bad, unfortunately, that wasn't
the worst of it. In the months that followed I gained an enormous
amount of weight, began having problems with adult acne, and
became more and more dependent on the drug, to the point where
I began having painful withdrawal symptoms if I skipped taking
my pills for a day or two.
Over the
years, I was also prescribed other anti-anxiety medications,
but in my experience, none of them were worth the trouble
of the severe side effects I experienced, and in many ways,
becoming "hooked" on these medications lowered my
quality of life substantially. Obviously, I don't recommend
them.
So
if using anti-anxiety drugs is not the answer, what is? Personally,
I have found the greatest benefit from using home exercises
for anxiety, such as proper breathing exercises and guided
visualization.
For
specific anxiety issues, I developed a method called "The
Speed Merchant," which is a home exercise for anxiety
that is used to de-sensitize the individual to the source
of their anxiety. This exercise is most useful for specific
anxiety situations such as driving, public speaking, social
anxiety, fear of heights or other reactionary-type anxiety
(where the anxiety is in reaction to a specific cause).

All
of these exercises are included in the EasyCalm series, as
well as specific breathing exercises to calm a panic attack
while it is happening, and lifestyle changing exercises to
eliminate the source of generalized anxiety.
I
have found over the years that the methods that work best
for me also work for others. EasyCalm
has thousands of successful users these days, and we have
expanded the series to include new home exercises for anxiety,
and daily "challenges" to shake up your life ever
so slightly and expand your comfort zone.
At the
end of the day, anxiety is all about "control issues."
By pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone ever so slightly
on a daily basis, these control issues are relaxed to a very
great extent, and the anxiety simply fades away. It is a slow
and gradual process, not a scary "all at once" method
of doing things. This slow and steady approach has yielded
the greatest results for me personally, and for thousands
of users all over the world.
The
exercises you'll find in the EasyCalm series have changed
many many lives. And there is absolutely no reason for you
to continue suffering with anxiety and panic attacks. You
CAN change, and with the support and resources you'll find
in the EasyCalm system, you quickly see that home exercises
for anxiety can be effective and empowering.
