I've
written many articles and blog posts about my former problem
with severe Social Anxiety and shyness. These
days I'm not embarrassed to admit it, and in fact, being open
and honest about the situation is a big part of the reason
I no longer suffer with these problems.
Over
the years, I sought help in many different areas to try to
tame the problem, but unfortunately overcoming social anxiety
is not something many practitioners have first-hand experience
with.
Without
first-hand knowledge of shyness and social anxiety, it is
difficult or impossible for someone to give you the "right:
advice" to help you overcome these issues.
I
was inspired to change by reading about an artist I respected
and admired who actually admitted he was dealing with severe
shyness and social anxiety. My first step toward overcoming
these problem probably started on that very day.
On
that day, I realized that the shame and embarrassment I felt
about my shyness was a BIG part of the problem. And in order
to overcome the social issues I was dealing with, I would
need to be open and honest about the situation.

Realizing
this made me feel much better about my situation, better enough
to actually try to telling a few of my close friends what
I was dealing with.
Overcoming social anxiety and shyness is not actually as hard
as it seems. There are strategies and
resources that can help you tremendously, but the first
step is to stop hiding.
For
the most part, you will be amazed that people around you will
be understanding about the problem. And he relief you will
feel is unbelievable, like a heavy burden lifted off of you.
Overcoming
social anxiety and shyness does not have to be difficult.
Understanding that social anxiety/shyness are both
really about a feeling of being overwhelmed and the having
the right exercise and strategies are all you need. You CAN
overcome this!
